Gas Purging EquipmentIt is a well-known fact, that coloration of the inside of alloy steel pipes or fittings can be avoided by the use of Purge Gas Equipment. In many cases Quality Control accepts no coloration, reflected in a demand of a certain maximum content of oxygen inside the pipes or fittings during welding. It is an equally known fact that there is a direct correlation between oxygen content and coloration. To avoid the disqualification of welding on alloy steel pipes or fitting it is often necessary to obtain as little as 10 ppm (0,001 %) oxygen on the welding site. This is true for the medical industry. Other industry such as foodstuff, beverage and petrochemical defines acceptable level to be between 25 and 50 ppm (0,002-0,005%) oxygen. The use of Purge Gas Equipment also ensures the right pressure inside the pipes during welding. Many companies are using foam rubber, as it is generally understood that this is the cheapest and best way to meet the prescribed quality. However this is not the case, as one will never achieve as Iowan oxygen content, as one does, using professional equipment. At the same time, it is difficult for the welder to assess when the chamber by the welding site is cleared for oxygen, or if the right pressure is obtained.
